Laughing, Avocado Smoothies, and Glorious Freezer Containers

The sound of a child laughing is one of the sweetest sounds in the world, although I would have trouble explaining exactly why. Of course, there's no doubt a baby's voice helps, but it is more than just the pitch or tone of the laugh that makes it so cleansing. The purity of it carries through the sound waves lighting up our hearts like chocolate does to our brain. Yes, I think it's fair to say there must be some type of chemicals involved.

What's equally amazing is how exciting these changes are for us as parents. Most likely you marked down the date your baby laughed for the first time, and made at least mental notes when you noticed the laugh changing. Well, let your motivation be your guide. I know I'm going to try my best to "keep the laugh alive" by making videos for keepsakes, and trying hard not to forget to get my daily dose, because it's clearly good medicine for everyone involved.

Recipe:

Avocado Smoothie

I found this tasty recipe at babycenter.com when I was trying to get Lilie back on avocados (a few months after she had spent a long night throwing one up). If you have vanilla yogurt on hand, you can leave out the vanilla extract.

Ingredients

1/2 small avocado
3 inches smashed banana
1 large scoop greek yogurt (greek for added protein)
1 1/2 tsp. honey
drop of vanilla extract
sprinkle of nutmeg
milk of preference

1) Blend all ingredients in a blender. Add milk as necessary to attain the right consistency.

Product: Beeba Multiportion Freezer Tray

These silicone food storage trays make life a lot easier when you're making your own baby food. First off, they hold seven portions each, which means you won't have to make more anytime soon. Second and third, they are easy to clean and store. An added bonus: the different colors can help you keep the mains and the desserts straight.

At 16 months we are still using these for Lilie's veggies, we've just had to up the serving to one and a half portions, rather than just one.

There are no seven wonders of the world in the eyes of a child. There are seven million. -Walt Streightiff
