Kid-Friendly Vacationing in France
We have been in France for nearly a week now, enjoying the countryside at its finest. We started out by renting a car from Charles DeGaulle airport and driving northwest into Normandie, taking the smaller roads that wind through the villages to get better views of the rolling hills, wandering farm animals, and quaint buildings dating back to times much before settlements in America.
Our destination was Eu, a beautiful town, close to the oceanfronts of both Mers Les Bain and Le Treport. Above is a picture of our hotel, a B&B, set in the Eu forest. It was a gorgeous, kid-friendly residence with history of royalty to boot. It used to be a hunting lodge for some of the royal family, as well as lodged a prize winning horse.
A crib was provided for us, as was a high chair for breakfast. The llamas of the neighboring Ferme de Beaumont, which stayed in the field behind our room were a source of great entertainment for our daughter. Inside the farm, which is within walking distance for even the smallest of walkers and allows visitors, we saw all sorts of donkeys, sheep, wallabys, chickens, roosters, pigeons, swans, and more.
Kid-friendly activities in the sister beach towns, include boat tours for fishing and common seal sightings, walking to the lighthouse, and a tourist train. On the beach boardwalk in Mers Les Bain there is a sand playground and a small fairgrounds ride. Le Treport aussi has a carousel close to la plage.
If you don't speak French, it shouldn't be a problem. Normandie is a favorite destination for many British, therefore many of the French people there speak English.
Bon voyage!
